I've been on the lookout for a tray to add on my coffee table and while I was at my local Goodwill I saw this tray, and it was what I've been looking for. You want to know the story behind it? Sure you do! While browsing the aisles I saw a lady examining this tray and in my head I was going, "please put it back, PLEASE put it back!"-- I really wanted that tray as you can tell. I hung around that aisle for a little bit and I saw her put it back!!! YAY! I quickly ran to grab it and I knew with a little paint this would make the perfect tray for my coffee table! Best of all this project cost me $3! Now that my friends, is a bargain.
As soon as I get home from the thrift store I deep clean and disinfect anything I buy. (and wash my hands)
I started by taping the inside of the tray -- because I didn't want to paint that part.
I used a 120 grit sandpaper to sand down all the sides including the inside.
Use a microfiber cloth to wipe it down of all dust.
Time to paint!
Apply a light coat of white paint to the tray
With 120 grit paper sand the edges and where ever you want it to look distressed.
$3 dollars and 30 minutes of my time later....

Love how the tray dresses up your coffee table.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! Love thrift store finds ~ so much fun! I'm working on a tray right now, too. However, my first attempt is a FAIL. I need to come up with a new idea.
