Before I learned how to sew, I thought it was impossible to make anything that required a sewing machine, until my sister-in-law introduced me to heat n bond tape. This miracle product will save you from having to use a sewing machine. In the past, I used hem tape to make table runners, curtains, even hem jeans! Here is how I make one of my favorite projects using the hem tape -- PILLOWS!! I'm constantly changing my throw pillows throughout the house and I don't always have the time to sew. So, without further adieu... I will let the pictures show you how to make them.
Decide how big you would like your pillows to be, then cut your fabric. I cut 38x19 for 17x17 pillows.
Fold your fabric over (inside out)
Cut and place hem tape on the edge between the 2 pieces of fabric.
With your iron on medium, bold fabric together.
Leave some space on one side to turn the pillow right side out and for stuffing.
Stuff with pillow stuffing. I used the stuffing's from old pillows I didn't use anymore.
Last but not least, seal your opening by applying hem tape and using a regular iron or hair iron to seal everything shut.
** Using a hair iron makes it a lot easier to work with when sealing it shut, the regular iron was to big and I didn't want to burn myself**
All done!
These look great! As silly as it sounds, I've never used that stuff before but have heard bit works wonders. I'll have to try it out!

DeleteGeorgeous fabric and clever idea! I used heat-n-bond for a halloween costume a few years ago because I was short on time. It held up wonderfully for the night, but I'd also be interested to know how it holds up long term on something like pillows. GREAT idea on using the flat iron. I have made no sew pillows, but always in an "envelope" style on the back which opens. Now I know how to close up that last seam!
